Put Your Best Food Forward!

I want to photograph my menu but, Where should I begin?
If the thought of hiring a food photographer seems like an expensive and daunting task, don’t sweat it. Think smaller and more selectively by just putting your Best Food Forward.
Let’s say that you have a large and diverse menu that you would like to get photographed professionally but don’t have the budget for it. If you start with just a dozen or so of your most popular and/or signature dishes, you will still make a huge difference in how people perceive your entire menu. It is human nature for us to assume that if the photos of the dishes we see look good, then the rest of the menu will be good too. By showcasing your most popular or signature menu items, it draws the customers’ eye to exactly what you want to show them and to what sets you apart from your competitors. If these featured items are also more food cost friendly, it can really start affecting your bottom line in a positive way.
Do Food Photos really affect sales?
One of our customer wanted to have her entire menu photographed for her restaurant website and delivery apps. It was a Sushi restaurant, so the menu was extensive. The most expensive item was a 20-piece Sashimi Platter (photo above). It wasn’t a big seller until the photo of this item was put onto the delivery apps. Within a few months, that 20-piece Sashimi Platter became one of her best sellers. She told us this was not only a big surprise to her, but a welcome surprise as well. This is one example of how a photo can positively change your sales.
A little can go a long way…
Now you don’t have to photograph your whole menu at one time. A dozen photos can make a difference with increasing your sales. And, you can always have the photographer come back to take more shots. Most photographers like myself prefer to forge long-term relationships with our clients instead of a one and done type approach. It’s a lot more fun and we really enjoy seeing your success.
